RAF Mildenhall 19th April 2011
I hadn't been to RAF Mildenhall for ages, my two previous visits this year to RAF Lakenheath had been ruined by mist/fog and there were 4 USAF Boeing CV-22B Ospreys in for evaluation purposes, so this seemed a good day to visit. These were - 06-0033, 08-0037, 08-0038 and 08-0039 all of them from the 20th SOS "Green Hornets". The weather was superb, blue skies all day but not a great deal of action and unfortunately I didn't get to see the Ospreys fly. I stayed until about 5PM, there were some interesting arrivals but alas no Ospreys. As well as a couple of based Boeing KC-135's also flying was Snoop 55, a Boeing RC-135V Rivet Joint, 64-14846 from Offutt Air Force Base, Lockheed C-130T Hercules BD 165161 of VR-64, US Navy, and 84-0180, a Beechcraft C-12U Huron from the US Army arrived late afternoon. As an added bonus all arrivals and departures were via Runway '11. This section contains 57 unique images taken on the day:
